Your screen. Your choice.
GoClickIT 0.1.0 · Preview release. Capture, edit and download locally. Cloud saving requires the matching GoClickIT app deployment. Browser-store publication and browser-specific release checks are separate.
What the extension can access
- activeTab: temporary access to the tab you choose when clicking the toolbar. We do not request access to every website.
- scripting: selects a region and temporarily scrolls or adjusts a page for full-page capture. The extension restores its changes when capture finishes or fails.
- alarms: removes expired local drafts and unfinished transfers.
- GoClickIT import page: a content script runs only on the app’s dedicated import page to transfer the file you choose to save. It does not read your GoClickIT password.
What stays on your device
Captures, recordings, edits and draft metadata are stored in your browser profile. Local drafts expire after 72 hours and are limited to 20 drafts and 300 MB. Cleanup runs when extension pages open and periodically while the browser is running. You can delete a draft from My drafts. Closing or uninstalling the extension, clearing storage, private browsing and browser storage pressure may remove drafts; download important files.
The extension contains no analytics, advertising, remote JavaScript, tracking pixels or automatic media uploads. Tab titles and temporary capture URLs may contain private information. The page address offered for sharing excludes its query parameters, fragment and embedded credentials, and is excluded by default.
When you choose Save to GoClickIT
Only the finished, flattened media, its chosen name and the optional page address are handed to run.goclick.it. The app asks you to sign in, choose a workspace and confirm the cloud upload. The original image and undo history are not sent. The transfer expires after 10 minutes and is tied to the import tab. Firefox may ask for optional data-transfer permission. Denying it leaves local capture and download available.
Capture limits and common problems
- Images: 16 megapixels, up to 30,000 pixels on either side. Opened image files: 40 MB maximum. Very long or wide pages may require a smaller region.
- Full-page capture: up to 60 tiles, limited by page size and browser zoom. Keep the source tab and window active. Changing tabs, navigating, resizing or loading more content stops capture to avoid saving the wrong page.
- Full-page mode captures the document scroller. Nested scrolling panels, canvas apps, animated content, sticky elements and cross-origin embedded content may not stitch perfectly. Fixed and sticky elements appear in the first tile; they are hidden in later tiles.
- Recordings: 5 minutes and 100 MB maximum. Pause does not count against recorded time. Your browser controls the screen/microphone picker and available audio sources. No camera is requested. Keep the recorder tab open.
- Browser settings pages, extension stores, PDF viewers, protected sites and DRM content may block screenshots or recording. Try a normal webpage or the web app’s screen picker.
Editing and redaction
Use solid redaction for confidential details. Pixelation and highlights are visual effects and may leave information recognizable. Exporting creates flattened pixels; downloaded images do not include the source image’s metadata or the editor’s undo history. Keeping a draft flattens its edits and resets undo history. Local drafts may still contain an earlier image until you keep the edited draft or delete it.
Keyboard and accessibility
In the editor: A arrow, R rectangle, P draw, H highlight, X redact, B pixelate, T text, C crop. Ctrl/Cmd+Z undoes; Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+Z redoes. Type a text label before placing it. The canvas uses pointer-based annotation; naming, export, cloud handoff and navigation are keyboard accessible. During region selection, Escape cancels.
